You're exhausted but can't sleep. Your periods are suddenly unpredictable. Your mood feels different. Your brain feels foggy. You're gaining weight despite doing what has always worked for you.
And when you ask about it, you hear that your labs are normal or that it's just part of getting older.
We don't think you should have to accept feeling unlike yourself without understanding what's happening.
At Vargo Vision Functional Wellness, we help women navigate perimenopause with a personalized approach that considers hormone changes, thyroid function, metabolic health, gut health, sleep, and other factors that may influence how you feel.
Our goal is to help you understand your symptoms, explore appropriate options, and build a plan around your needs.
You deserve to feel supported through this transition, not left to figure it out alone.
You deserve to feel supported through this transition, not left to figure it out alone.
You wake up bloated. Certain foods seem to trigger symptoms you can't explain. Constipation turns into diarrhea, your energy feels unpredictable, and your digestion never seems consistent.
Maybe you've already seen a specialist, tried probiotics, eliminated foods, or been told that your tests look normal.
But you're still not feeling like yourself.
At Vargo Vision Functional Wellness, we take a root-cause approach to gut health. We look beyond individual digestive symptoms to explore how digestion, the gut microbiome, nutrient absorption, inflammation, hormones, and lifestyle may be interacting.
Because sometimes, the digestive symptoms you're experiencing are only one part of a bigger picture.
You deserve more than another list of foods to avoid. You deserve to understand what may be driving your symptoms.
We don't run a dedicated SIBO breath test. Instead, we evaluate your symptoms and available laboratory findings for signs of gut-related imbalances. SIBO and other forms of gut dysbiosis can overlap, but they are not interchangeable diagnoses. If a formal SIBO evaluation is needed, your gastroenterologist can order an appropriate breath test, and we're happy to work alongside them.
Gastroenterologists diagnose and treat gastrointestinal diseases and structural problems, using tools such as endoscopy, imaging, and other appropriate tests. Our functional wellness approach focuses on the broader factors that may influence digestive health, including nutrition, gut-related findings, nutrient status, lifestyle, and connections with other health concerns. We complement, rather than replace, appropriate gastroenterology care.
They can be. The gut participates in estrogen metabolism, and hormonal changes can influence digestion and bowel function. When digestive and hormone-related symptoms occur together, we consider both as part of your evaluation. The connection varies from person to person, so we don't assume that one is always the cause of the other.
Not necessarily. The right approach depends on your symptoms, history, and potential triggers. Some people benefit from targeted dietary changes, while others need further evaluation for an underlying gastrointestinal condition. We aim to make nutrition recommendations that are appropriate for your needs rather than encouraging unnecessary restriction.
Digestive conditions may affect energy through factors such as nutrient deficiencies, inadequate intake, inflammation associated with certain diseases, or disrupted sleep. Persistent fatigue has many possible causes, so we consider your overall health rather than attributing it to the gut alone.
